Principal's Message

Tēnā koutou katoa, nau mai haere mai.

Assalamu Alaikum. Mālō e lelei, talofa, nǐ hǎo, bula, namaste, konnichiwa, sveiki, sat srī akāl, hola.

Welcome to Vardon School. Established in 1956 and nestled in the heart of the Beerescourt community alongside the scenic Waikato River, our school has a long and proud history. We are a school that values our heritage while staying firmly focused on meeting the needs of our children in an ever-changing world.

At Vardon, our daily life and our commitment to our tamariki are guided by one central vision.

We have a Sense of Belonging by valuing Respect, Kindness, and Learning!"

We are a diverse kura, and we know that true success is built on the strength of our relationships. We pride ourselves on working as a unified team, maintaining strong connections between staff and children, and fostering deep partnerships with our families and whānau. This spirit of community is further enriched by our valued links with local iwi -Ngaati Wairere and Hukanui Marae, Scott’s Church, and regional partners like Sport Waikato and Environment Waikato.
Our learning programmes are evidence-based and designed to make a genuine difference in a child's development. We take an innovative, forward-thinking approach, blending current research with our own deep experience to meet the unique needs of every student. While we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence in Literacy and Numeracy, we also value a holistic education. Through our bike track, swimming pool, native gardens, sports, and Kapahaka, our students are encouraged to explore their cultural, physical, and environmental world.

I have the good fortune of leading a team of dedicated and skilful educators, supported by a highly capable Board of Trustees and an energetic PTA. Together, we work every day to ensure that Vardon School is a place where every child is seen, heard, and supported to be their very best.

I look forward to welcoming you into our community and working together to bring our vision of respect and kindness to life.

Ngā mihi nui,
Shakeeb Kalaam Principal
